G O L D ISRAEL 500L 1974 (.8102 oz AGW) PF in fancy case with 2 sil 25L (1.56 oz ASW) $3300+ melt value 3250.00

SLABBED COINS:

BELGIUM 50C 1867 NGC "AU details Cleaned," doesn't look cleaned at all, rather a totally normal EF with lt tone. Scarce date (EF cat $350, an EF brought $348, Elsen 12/18) 175.00

GERMANY 3M 1929 Marburg, NGC "UNC details cleaned," actually somewhat toned now but I'd just call it AU (cat XF $260, MS60 $400) 99.00

5M 1929 E Meissen, NGC Unc Details, cleaned, I'd grade AU (cat EF $700) 279.00

COMMENT: I learned grading in the 1960s. What I see nowadays in slabs shows a severe loosening of standards that just makes no sense to me, with, like, coins called "AU50" that are no better than conventional VF. I can't operate that way, and continue with what I consider TRUE grading.

UNITED STATES 50¢ 2001 CAPITOL Visitor (not rioter) Center BU (bid $13) 9.95

TRANS TOKEN, Nassau County NY 28 mm brass, Lion on Shield/MSBA; nice; scarce?? I've not seen before. AU-Unc .50, 3/1.35, 10/3.95*; VF-EF 30 for 9.95*

NOTE: A star after the price means multiples are available.

CATALOG VALUES IN (PARENTHESES) Printed KM catalogs are getting old, but the prices at least give some idea of value. Their online "Numismaster" is not user-friendly. I've discussed this with them. Their focus seems to be on updating listings — listings that nobody can reasonably access.

SWITZERLAND My Collection — of 50+ Years — I've always especially loved these. The very lack of design changes endows the coinage with a certain dignity. I was assiduous in working toward completeness & constantly upgrading, so this collection is far above average. Grading very STRICT. I've tried to price very realistically; the prices feel cheap compared to what I paid for many of these long ago. I hate parting with them but probably won't live forever. A unique opportunity for buyers.
