SLABBED COINS:
BELGIUM 50C 1867 NGC "AU details Cleaned," doesn't look cleaned at all, rather a totally normal EF with lt tone. Scarce date (EF cat $350, an EF brought $348, Elsen 12/18) 175.00
GERMANY 3M 1929 Marburg, NGC "UNC details cleaned," actually somewhat toned now but I'd just call it AU (cat XF $260, MS60 $400) 99.00
5M 1929 E Meissen, NGC Unc Details, cleaned, I'd grade AU (cat EF $700) 279.00
COMMENT: I learned grading in the 1960s. What I see nowadays in slabs shows a severe loosening of standards that just makes no sense to me, with, like, coins called "AU50" that are no better than conventional VF. I can't operate that way, and continue with what I consider TRUE grading. Silly me.
UNITED STATES TRANS TOKEN, Nassau County NY 28 mm brass, Lion on Shield/MSBA; nice; scarce?? I've not seen before. AU-Unc .50, 3/1.35*; VF-EF 30/9.95*
NOTE: A star after the price means multiples are available.
CATALOG VALUES IN (PARENTHESES) Printed KM catalogs are getting old, but the prices at least give some idea of value. Their online "Numismaster" is not user-friendly. I've discussed this with them. Their focus seems to be on updating listings — listings that nobody can reasonably access.
NOTE!! Be mindful of current silver bullion value. Some silver coin prices on this list may seem high, but in fact I've put many around or below melt value. Due to its volatility, prices may be subject to change (See misc at end for much silver)
